I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. It’s a lovely place for finding new ideas, a million recipes with cauliflower, and drool-worthy closet spaces. You name it. I can spend hours making boards and filling them with beautiful photos, inspirational quotes, and things that make me smile. On the other hand, I can spend HOURS making boards and filling them…you get the idea.
One of my largest boards by far on Pinterest is called “When I Have Time.” It’s got over 500 plus pins. I started it several years ago as a parking lot for cool crafts and ideas that I wanted to revisit and try “when I have time.” Spoiler alert – NOW is the time!
What better time will there ever be, if it’s not now, when free time is ABUNDANT due to the COVID-19 quarantine.
I used to spend my weekends out and about. These days, I find myself decluttering, organizing, reading, writing, coloring, painting, crocheting, and exercising. I see neighbors planting flowers, smell the paint from garage workshops, and hear the table saws buzzing, so I know I’m not the only one feeling motivated and facing boredom head-on.
What if this time that we are all seemingly tolerating leads the world to a modern renaissance of sorts?
Think of all the people writing books and poetry, making art, capturing photos, crafting inventions, and teaching others. There are folks dreaming vivid dreams, making fresh starts, getting healthy, connecting in new ways, overcoming challenges, and pondering solutions to life’s many puzzles. The necessary space and time is available. So instead of focusing on my limitations and tolerations, I am choosing to focus instead on my freedoms. This time is a gift. The gift is full of possibilities. What are you doing with your gift of time? What is it that you always said you would do, “When I have time”? I’m calling you to rise to the occasion because that time is NOW.
“If not me, then who? If not now, then when? If not here, then where?”
